Antique 4/4 violin, Stradivarius copy, #1331
For sale is a full sized violin. Over the next several months I will be
listing various violins in my eBay store. Most are European shop violins of
good quality from the period 1880-1920. Some are for repair and restoration
while others are playable as is. I'm selling these because I must continue to
downsize my operation. As the descriptions and photos indicate, some will
require extensive restoration; others need little or no more than set-up; and
the rest lie somewhere in between.
Workmanship on this violin is good. The violin is a Stradivarius copy. It is
playable with new strings and a quick basic setup that buyer may want to
adjust. The overall length of the violin is 23 3/8". The two-piece, nicely
figured burled maple back measures 14 3/16" long, 8 1/8" across at the lower
bout, and 6 11/16" across at the upper bout. The one-piece spruce top is
variably-grained, widening at the flanks. Purfling is inlaid and well done.
Blocked in the front corners and fully lined. No bass bar or sound post cracks.
2 rib cracks and one small crack in the back (see pic) all professionally
repaired and present no problems. It was refinished (before it got to me);
finish has rubs, nicks and scratches (see pics). A sound post is set inside.
Inventory # 1331. No bow or case. Please examine photographs of this violin
carefully and email me with any questions using the "contact seller" link.
